Friday Lust!

Well hello there, it’s that time of the week again…it’s FRIDAY!

You’ll notice a strong commonality between this and my previous Friday Lust post; they’re both red. I love red at the best of times but I always become especially obsessed around the beginning of the AW season when the berry tones start coming back in.

This for me represents the ultimate in simple but statement elegance and I wish I had a party that would justify the purchase!

Reiss Jasmine Dress, £245

Reiss Jasmine Dress, £245

It’s just that little bit too expensive to buy on a whim but if I reach a weight loss goal I have set myself, I’ll buy it then if it’s still available in my size. Now there’s an incentive to skinny on down!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone 🙂 x

A Tale of Two Wardrobes

There’s something been bugging me recently and it’s taken me a while to figure it out. I’ve noticed that I’m pretty much out of wardrobe space, yet I have nothing to wear and I don’t mean the usual nothing to wear, I mean literally nothing. First of all, I thought it was the change in seasons, “I’ll be too hot in that”, “That’s too summery for today”, etc. but now that it’s fully summer and I’ve re-opened my summer stock of clothes, I’m still stuck.

So what is it?

Well, this evening I went to put some laundry away and noticed that once again there’s no space for it, despite the fact that I only do laundry when I’m out of things to wear. So I started mooching through my clothes, figuring I must have loads of old tat hanging around that needs to be gone. I don’t.

What I have is a tale of two wardrobes. Fat Sam vs. Thin Sam.

This is the first time in my adult life that I’ve encountered this problem and that’s why it’s taken me so long to figure out. For a good 15 or so years, I was a size 10, occasionally dipping into an 8. Suddenly I’m a size 12 and my old clothes don’t fit. Like actually can’t get them on or do them up don’t fit. My metabolism is failing me and my willpower is like an under-used muscle, (which all of mine are) and it hurts every time I try and use it!

I’ve bloody well gone up a clothes size and I’m not even 30 yet. Shit the bloody bed.

Never even mind the weight, my main concern is the clothing. What does one do in this situation, admit defeat and donate the smaller sized clothes to charity or kid oneself that weight loss is imminent and those clothes will be essential at that time? I’ve never had to lose weight before and I genuinely don’t know whether I can do it. I’ve done it by accident before but that was 6 years ago and not a pound has been shed since. In fact, I’ve been slowly gaining many pounds over that entire time.

This is a genuine dilemma; I need fewer clothes in my life as there’s no chance of increasing wardrobe capacity right now, but do I vote fat or thin? Delicious food or hideous exercise? Most likely, I’ll bury my head in the sand, hope for a weight loss miracle (raspberry ketones already on order) and keep adding to my collection of clothing until I can no longer fit in my dressing room. (Because of the vast array of clothing, not because I got that fat…though I won’t rule that out either.)

What would a sane person do? Help a girl out, peeps! x

Shorts; am I Goldilocks?

I’m sure you’re all familiar with the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, with the blonde-tressed beauty always searching for what is “just right” for her. Well, I feel like Goldi-bloomin’-locks right now but with shorter, frizzier and rootsier hair. (Yes, rootsier – it’s a new word.)

The reason for this stress is that I’ve been trying to buy some shorts for the summer. Usually I go to beach destinations so I wear bikinis in the day, dresses and skirts at night and I’m fine. This year, I’m heading to Athens and I need something I can wear when I go exploring that’s not going to expose my bottom to the world if it’s windy or if I’m climbing up a mountain. Which I do regularly. (Ahem!)

Given that it’s summer, you’d think that buying shorts would be easy and in theory it should be because they are in all of the shops right now. However, I am neither a skinny 19 year old, nor a dowdy 50 year old so I appear to be a little bit stuck. Plus, I also have a rather sizeable derrière which causes all manner of difficulties at the best of times.

In a nutshell, here are my options:

Denim Shorts (read knickers)

Denim Shorts (read knickers)

Denim-esque saggy who-knows-whats

Denim-esque saggy who-knows-whats

Imagine my bottom in the first option; for those who don’t know me, here’s a clue: My bottom wouldn’t fit into them, they’d be halfway up my enormous butt cheeks.

Then imagine looking in the mirror when you’d put on the latter option and you realise that you’d need to dye your hair grey, add a floral blouse and some of those weird, comfy sandal things.

What about the middle ground? Where does a normal, approaching 30, cellulite-ridden, slightly podgy yet not without aspirations of one day looking fashionable person go to find shorts? HUH? Tell me, where? Oh and denim is pretty much out because I can only wear jeggings else they gape at the back because my waist doesn’t match my enormous hipbumthigh area!

That pretty much sums up my Goldilocks dilemma. Help would be greatly appreciated or even empathy would help. Bring back winter! (Oops, said that out loud.) x

My George at Asda Bargain Jumper

I’m a huge fan of bargainous clothing and have no qualms about shopping in budget stores, including the supermarket but it’s rare that I find anything in my local Asda that I really love. That is until a couple of weeks ago when I came across a jumper that I literally cannot stop wearing, I LOVE IT! Here it is:

Eyelash Lip Print Jumper, £16

Eyelash Lip Print Jumper, £16

I’m not normally keen on these “eyelash” jumpers that have popped up everywhere but this one literally leapt off the rail and whacked me in the face. The lip print is delightfully 80s and it’s unbelievably soft and snuggly. I cannot get enough of this and for £16, it’s just perfect! As always with supermarket clothing, they come up slightly large so I’ve gone for the size 8 instead of a 10…just a note for anyone who yo-yo’s between sizes. That’s all I have to say for now, I literally just wanted to brag about my amazing jumper 🙂 x

Friday Lust

Hello!

It’s been a while since I did a Friday lust so it’s about time I got back on it. Recently I have been obsessed with Ted Baker and I mean obsessed, I literally want to own their whole collection but sadly my bank balance won’t permit such extravagant behaviour!

I’ve most recently been loving two things; their Wallpaper Print design and their collection of shorts, check out the Wallpaper Print:

Wallpaper Print Floral Print Top, £69

Wallpaper Print Floral Print Top, £69

Then yesterday, I was flicking through this week’s Look magazine when I spotted something amazing – a pair of shorts that combine a very similar print with the fact that they are shorts. My two current faves! Perfect!!!

Lavish Alice, Tropical Print Multicoloured Tailored Shorts, £32

Lavish Alice, Tropical Print Multicoloured Tailored Shorts, £32

Just look at the similarity and £32 for these shorts! It’s like all my dreams came true! So whilst I still love the Ted Baker stuff, I’m plenty happy to save my pennies and get exactly what I want for a fraction of the cost. This is my first Lavish Alice order so fingers crossed they impress me 🙂

Happy Friday shoppers! x

Friday Lust

Hello friends!

Friday Lust is back! I’ve been a bit poorly this week so I decided to cheer myself up with some online window shopping and it’s led me down a new path I never thought I’d consider. I’ve ended up looking at trainers! Yes, trainers. Last weekend I went on an unexpectedly long walk and realised my boots just weren’t that comfortable and wished I was the sort of person to rock trainers on a weekend. Now trainers are historically pretty un-fashion friendly but I’ve seen soooooo many cool pairs on the high street recently that I figured there must be a pair out there waiting for me. Then I discovered NikeID and now I am in love and teetering on the edge of bankruptcy; I’ve designed a pair I really, really, really want and really, really, really can’t afford. Here they are:

Nike Air Force 1 High Premium ID - £175

Nike Air Force 1 High Premium ID – £175

Just look at that! Animal print plus pink, plus the hard edge of the black and it’s all in one shoe! OMG!!! I’d have to sell all my other shoes and wear them every single day to get them but the longing I feel for these right now is beyond a joke! Watch this space for me advertising the sale of everything I own on eBay 🙂

Happy Friday my little shopper friends x

Friday Lust

By the time you are reading this, & Other Stories, the latest installment from the company behind H&M will actually be open, how very exciting!!!

Having subscribed to their pre-shopping, I would describe the collection as COS with a quirky edge. Everything looks very well made and of beautiful quality and it comes with some extra artistic flair, almost what you’d get if you crossed H&M and COS. One item grabbed my eye so much that it just had to be my Friday Lust, here it is:

Leather Shoulder Bag in Mint, £95

Leather Shoulder Bag in Mint, £95

Just look at the detailing on that! Mint green is one of my favourite summer shades anyway, (currently rocking it on my finger nails) but this bag just takes it up a notch for me. I LOVE that gold stud detailing. I’ve been struggling to find good bags in the region of £100 recently so this may just be my saviour…now to find the £100 I’ve already spent!!!

Check out http://www.stories.com for the rest of the collection and let me know what you think 🙂 x

Friday Lust

This week’s Friday Lust is literally as me as you can get, in fact it is something I have been dreaming of owning for a good 10 years now! Check this out:

Zara: Blazer £69.99, Trousers £35.99

Zara: Blazer £69.99, Trousers £35.99

I don’t know why but I have always wanted a fuchsia suit, ever since my 6th form prom when I was unable to get one and had to settle for a dress instead. For me it seems a bit much to spend over £100 on something that realistically I’ll only wear a very limited number of times but my justification is that actually you can totally wear the individual pieces with loads of other outfits too so really you could get tonnes of wear out of this little ensemble!

I’m going to put my order in right now… please do not judge me, hopefully you’ll agree that this is simply a must have for someone like me!

Happy post-pay-day Friday my little shopper friends! x

Friday Lust

Hello my lovelies, it’s that time of the week again when we can all get super excited about the weekend and it’s also nearly pay day so we can start planning what we are going to spend our hard earned pennies on next month 🙂

Despite the rather chilly turn of the weather, I can’t stop thinking about the summer so this week’s Friday lust is another summer buy but I saw them and fell in love, that’s all there is to it!

Melissa Incence Wing, £90

Melissa Incence Wing, £90

Just look at them!!! They’re feminine, cute, sophisticated and part of the monochrome trend that is so big right now all at once…literally perfect! I know £90 sounds a little bit steep but for something as beautiful and striking as these shoes, personally I think it’s pennies and I need to lose weight anyway so bye bye food, hello shoes!

I hope I’ve inspired you to start making a list of all that you want to buy when pay day finally arrives; remember to think Spring/Summer despite the ice on your car windscreen 🙂

Happy Friday! x

LFW – Burberry

Generally speaking when LFW comes around, I avoid blogging about it like the plague. I’m not one of the fortunate few who is invited along to any shows so I tend to leave the commentary to those who are. However, I stumbled upon an absolute gem from Burberry which was that they had put their show on their website for streaming so this time I couldn’t resist just a little comment on what I saw!

Burberry isn’t normally a label I especially lust after, I often find their collections just a bit boring and reserved for my liking but this show contained some really wearable pieces which I have found myself wishing I could afford so I figured they were worth a blog mention 🙂

In case you don’t already know, I love all things girly and animal print so prepared to be surprised by what I have chosen!

Mink Gabardine Trench Coat

Mink Gabardine Trench Coat

In my humble opinion, that is just the most beautiful trench coat I have ever seen! I did also spot some men’s shoes in the show which were the same animal print…I just need to find a guy who’d be prepared to wear them now!

The Little Crush In Heart Print Calfskin And Leather, £850

The Little Crush In Heart Print Calfskin And Leather, £850

This little beauty is available to buy now! I know I’ve picked 2 things which are really similar but I love hearts and I love animal print…and then Burberry combined the two so what was I supposed to do, ignore it!?! Hell no! Now I just need to earn me some commission so I can maybe buy half of one of those bags at some point by the time I am 50!!!

If you want to watch the show, you can find it here.

Happy LFW everyone! x
